It doesn’t matter if you are a seasoned competitor, want to learn self-defense, or are looking for a healthy activity—we have classes geared toward you. Our team makes sure to help students find their own path through the martial art. The support the instructors provide, alongside the tight-knit culture throughout our school, makes every day special. Our School
Every day at our academy is filled with energy and joy. We get to work in Jiu Jitsu classes as a community. Students go through the long journey of Jiu Jitsu, improving a little bit each and every day. Our training is geared toward the everyday person, providing you with the tools to grow your game and reach your goals. It isn’t about cheap results. We have your back in whatever journey you choose through Jiu Jitsu! Whatever you need, we have it at Gracie Humaita Marion!
History
It has been our mission to provide Southern Illinois with the best Jiu Jitsu experience possible since our 2018 opening. Throughout the years, our academy’s quality has continued to grow. We’ve seen students reach new heights as we’ve dedicated ourselves to always improving ourselves. This includes consistent training on how to become better instructors. Especially from academy owner Tristan Tripp, who travels two hours a week to learn from his professor. Tristan has continuously improved his Jiu Jitsu – including winning a bronze medal at World Masters 2025. With his years of experience and expertise, Tristan hopes every student can reach their goals at Gracie Humaita Marion!

What Sets us Apart
We pride ourselves on providing the best Jiu Jitsu in Marion that we can. Our commitment to excellence never stops. That carries from the training our instructors go through to the energy brought into each day of class. Everything we do at Gracie Humaita Marion is for a reason!
We have made sure all our instructors are certified to teach and provide students with the best experience possible. But it doesn’t stop there. We still consistently have our leaders go through educational training to make each class the best it can be. We will always strive to be better!
Through the years, we have seen plenty of our students grow. We have sport Jiu Jitsu training in place to help students who want to compete at the highest levels. Our game is always evolving to keep up with the new styles in Jiu Jitsu.
As well as our competitive training, our classes are also built for the everyday person. Our instructors make sure to keep training beginner-friendly and help students transition from the workday to class. It doesn’t matter what your profession, experience, or interests are, there is a place for you at Gracie Humaita Marion!
We highly value the culture we’ve built in our Marion Jiu Jitsu academy. Starting with a greeting at the door, you’ll find this isn’t just a place to practice Jiu Jitsu. This is a home for like-minded individuals to grow together while becoming their best selves.
We love to keep the energy going in the academy. Kids Jiu Jitsu classes will often be playful and fun. Meanwhile, the energy continues in adult classes, with a positive mindset and an opportunity for stress relief and calmness.
We make sure to follow the teachings that have been passed down and taught to us. Owner Tristan Tripp is a certified instructor under Master Royler Gracie and has also learned from renowned teachers, David Adiv and JW Wright. Each of them has contributed to our Jiu Jitsu and how we help our students.
